The Memorial Day weekend is upon us! The sun is out, the grill is ready, the cooler is packed… it’s the ultimate American celebration of the start of summer. But Memorial Day is also much more than that. It’s the time when we reflect as a country and honor all those who have served to protect our freedom. And here at Gourmesso we would like to thank those and their families who have sacrificed for us.
To celebrate the Memorial Day weekend and the start of summer, we’ve come up with this great recipe for coffee BBQ sauce! Read on to find the best way to use coffee to make this unforgettable coffee BBQ Sauce.
Coffee BBQ Sauce
Total time: 30 mins
1 large onion, peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic, peeled and chopped
2-3 jalapenos or similar peppers, seeded and diced
2-3 brewed Gourmesso coffee capsules (the stronger the better)
1 cup ketchup
2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
¼ Cup apple-cider vinegar
¼ Cup packed brown sugar
3 Tbsp honey
1 Tbsp Dijon mustard
1 Tbsp ground black pepper
1 Tbsp smoked paprika
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp salt
1. Combine all ingredients in a large saucepan and heat on medium-high until boiling. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
2. Allow the mixture to cool. In a food processor or blender, puree until smooth. Strain if necessary.
3. Enjoy! This yields about 2 1/2 cups, and the coffee bbq sauce can be stored in the fridge for up to two weeks.
Feel free to add a dash of your favorite bourbon for that extra kick! And enjoy the delicious sauce on beef, pork, or chicken!
