Coffee or something sweet? Ice cream or a cake? Or some chocolate and cream? Way too much at once! No, not at all. With this delicious Italian half-frozen ice-cake you get everything in one piece!

Fun-Fact: Perhaps you have already discovered the term Semifreddo on the menu of your favorite Italian. You may also have come across this vocabulary while browsing through your new Italian cookbook and wondering if the preparation of such a deliciously sounding dessert may be successful? What is Semifreddo and why is it absolutely necessary to cook the Italian delicacy? Semifreddo could be called half-frozen, a sort of ice-cream. The sweet specialty has the consistency of a frozen mousse. Semifreddo is made from cream, fruit and chocolate.

Ingredients

  • 1.25 cup of condensed milk
  • 500ml whipped cream
  • 0.25 cup of powdered sugar
  • 1 shot of Bailey’s
  • 0.5 cup of dark chocolate
  • Cocoa powder
  • Square shaped pan

Directions

 Cover the baking plate with baking paper and the box with clear plastic film. At the same time let the ends protrude slightly so that you can lift the semifreddo more easily.

 Melt the chocolate, place on the baking sheet and smooth it out. Let it cool for 30 minutes.

 In a bowl, mix whip cream, icing sugar and coffee, condensed milk and Bailey’s.

Cut a chocolate into two rectangles (about the size of the square box shape).

Put a layer of cream into the mold and smooth it out. Place it on a chocolate plate. Finish it up by spreading a layer of cream, let it freeze for at least 8 hours. Sprinkle with cocoa before serving.
