With so many people relying on their morning cup of coffee, the last thing that they want to have to deal with is waking up to see that their Nespresso machine has lights blinking and refuses to work. Trying to decipher what the root of this issue is can be fairly challenging for some people, considering that these coffee machines utilize so many different complex parts. Luckily, there are a few common Nespresso machine problems that could be the cause behind these blinking lights. Here are the most common troubleshooting methods that can be used to help fix Nespresso machine flashing lights.

Machine in Descaling Mode

One of the most common reasons why a Nespresso machine might be experiencing flashing lights is due to it accidentally being put into the descaling process. If a user finds that the lights are flashing at a quick rate and persist on flashing for long periods of time, then this is likely the case and the user should follow the steps for exiting the descaling process.

The buttons that will be flashing to indicate this issue should be held down for approximately six seconds until the machine emits a clear beep. Once this happens, the user can let go of the buttons and the machine should automatically exit out of the descaling mode. However, if this has not worked, then the problem either stems from a different issue or has to do with something much more serious which would require the user to receive some professional help.

Machine Blinking to Warm Up

The Nespresso machine light might be flashing because it is simply warming up. This will happen when a user initially plugs in the machine and presses either button once. The buttons will begin blinking and not stop until the desired temperature is reached, then blinking will stop and the cup size buttons will turn solid, which is when a user should select which cup size he prefers and the machine will begin brewing.

Blocked Capsules in Machine

Occasionally, the Nespresso machine might experience a capsule becoming blocked in its system. When this happens, the machine is not able to operate and therefore alerts its user via a maintenance light. If someone has tried the previous steps but the light remains flashing, then they should check the capsule container to examine whether any of the capsules have become accidentally blocked. If this is the case, then they should safely remove the capsule and the machine should stop its blinking.

Low Water Level in Machine Reservoir

One of the final issues that the Nespresso machine could be experiencing is a lack of water. If the water tank becomes empty, then the machine will be unable to perform its functions and a light will turn on start flashing. If the user notices that the water tank is empty, then they should immediately fill it with portable water and the machine should turn off its light.

If none of these troubleshooting steps have resulted in the Nespresso machine returning to its normal state with no flashing lights, then it is likely that the machine will require further assistance through the official Nespresso machine channels.
